Watch Movements

Movements are the brains and the heart of a watch some work mechanically and others through a combination of electronics and mechanical parts. In the past, many movements were mechanical and repaired by horologist/watchmakers with parts that we supply. With the availability of low cost and good quality electronic watch movements, many watchmakers started to use retrofitting to replace mechanical movements with new quartz electronic movements. Watch movements are small and can be delicate and should be handled in a way not to damage the small moving parts or electronics. You will want to use good optical magnification and lighting in the area that you are working on watch movements also keep the area clean of dust and dirt. You should at least have some training or start by working on a watch that is not valuable if you plan on changing watch movements. It requires careful handling and practice to replace a watch movement. When your watch movement is not working there might be a serious problem or something that is minor but if you do not have the testing equipment and the training to determine the exact problem, changing the entire watch movement can be a time saver. Movements can be fitted into just about any watch and we have the exact movement to replace many popular brand name watches with a minimum of work or changes.
